The work of this specialist field includes :-
Understanding the law of succession both estate and intestate. Obtaining a clear picture of the clients’ circumstances both personal and financial. Discussing with the clients their aims for succession to their assets. Understand the details and implication of potential complex financial or property aspects. Understanding the details of clients’ personal situations. Advising on the impact of those situations on the proposed Will. Carefully identifying any areas of particular concern and if necessary advising upon the wisdom or otherwise of certain proposals. Taking careful instructions from the client and advising on those instructions as to their effect and practical consequences. Considering and advising upon the tax implications of proposed provisions, and identifying alternative ways to save tax. Drafting Wills and explaining the drafts to the client. Attending the client to ensure the required formalities of execution are observed. Ensuring the client gets a copy of their Will, storing the original for them in safe storage.
These particular skills required for this work include;
Empathetic approach to clients; ability to assess mental capacity to executive a Will. Good technical knowledge of the law of succession, wills, trust and tax planning
