advise on practical steps to take immediately post-death advise on funeral directors and where necessary liaising with them to assist with funeral arrangements and disposal of the body register the death if necessary Identify, secure and value the assets Identify and record any liabilities Advise on the terms of the Will or intestacy rules Contact the appointed or entitled Personal Representatives to advise on their responsibilities and legal status Contact the beneficiaries or legatees to advise of entitlements Prepare and submit tax return for Inheritance Tax purposes and arranging payment of any tax due Prepare the Oath for the application for the Grant of Representation (Upon obtaining the Grant), notify all asset holders and preparing necessary forms of authority for signature by the Personal Representatives to claim funds Transfer any property not to be sold or realised Arrange sale of assets where necessary ( properties/shares/valuables etc) Deal with all outstanding tax issues ( Inheritance tax, capital Gains Tax and Income tax pre and post death Prepare final Estate Account to show all dealings and account to the beneficiaries Advertise for any unknown debts
