The cost of the funeral

A L & G Abbotts with over 175 years experience continually serving your community are expert at providing all the information and guidance you need from liaising with the hospital and coroner, explaining how death is registered, through to discussing and confirming your requirements with the relevant church officials and the crematorium.

The cost of a funeral falls into three main categories:

  • Materials, such as the coffin or casket
  • A L & G Abbotts fee for professional charges, covering removal of the deceased to our rest chapel, making arrangements, organising vehicles, hire of pall bearers, liaison with third parties on documentation and overall management of the funeral
  • any disbursements paid to other organisations on your behalf, such as the church or crematorium fees, ministers fees and obituary notices and doctor’s fees

The overall cost of the funeral will depend on your choices, and we will work with you to produce a detailed estimate of your requirements.

Payment options

Our services include not only taking care of all the practical arrangements and settling the associated charges (crematorium, minister, organist, doctor’s fees, etc.) but also other personal matters such as arranging the floral tributes and correlating charity donations.

All charges are detailed in a written quotation with payment expected approximately four weeks after the funeral, (we accept all major credit cards).

We also offer a prepayment plan, approved by the National Association of Funeral Directors that we would be happy to discuss with you. Click here
