How to Find Us

Newhaven is situated between Brighton and Eastbourne on the A259 coast road and is linked to Lewes on the A27, via the A26. Newhaven is well sign posted from the A27 and all approach roads into the town have signs for Newhaven Fort.

Trains run regularly to Newhaven Town Station, ~1.1 miles (1.8km) from the Fort.

Buses stop regularly throughout the town centre, ~0.7 miles (1.1km) from the Fort.

Coaches are welcome throughout the season, a free coach park is provided.

Cycle racks are provided outside the main entrance.

10.30am - 6pm (5pm when clocks go back)
(last admission 1 hour before closing)

Also weekends during November
10am - 4pm (last admission 3pm)

Disabled Visitors

All the major exhibits have ramps provided to allow wheelchair access and the majority of cliff top areas are accessible with assistance. Drop of points and access into the Fort can be arranged either on arrival in the Guard Room, or in advance, Tel: 01273 517622 or email: enquiries@newhavenfort.org.uk.

A unisex disabled toilet facility is available in the main entrance tunnel.


Refreshments

The Searchlight Cafe is open throughout the Fort season from 11am - 4.30pm, offering a wide range of hot and cold drinks, snacks, cakes and lunches.

Picnics: Picnic Tables are located throughout the Fort with indoor seating also available.
