Both Karen and Myself are aware of the need to ensure that the placement descriptions are Age Discrimination and DDA legislation compliant and when we are unsure we work with the Disability Equals Business team. Regarding the benefits issue I have my meeting with JCP+ this afternoon to discuss these problems. Please take into consideration that when I broker these job opportunities or placement opportunities, which was extremely difficult in the hotel industry, that I am only making initial contact with these businesses. With 45 member organisations in the OEEG each with different placement offers available in terms of length of placement and funding support I have to give generic benefits to getting involved with members. I explain to them clearly that each member service is different and the relationship going forward will be managed by the member who gets in touch. I hope that makes sense? Thank you for your kind offer of support going forward. I know that you are only distributing the information but my colleagues in the Supported Employment Team have raised some concerns about what they contain in relation to legislation e.g The age discrimination legislation, and the DDA. Also the potential impact on the host employer and/or on a person claiming a benefit for either offering or accepting one of these placements. I just felt it important to advise you of this in case beneficiaries or staff within Equal projects do not pick up on these issues before a placement starts. If you tink anyone from my team can help please do contact Wendy or Jan at any time. regards Maureen Pasmore Service Manager Supported Employment Team Brighton & Hove City Council Castleham Hove Knoll Business Centre Old Shoreham Road Hove BN3 7GS Tel: 01273 296090 maureen.pasmore@brighton-hove.gov.uk Notice to recipient: The information contained in this electronic mail message is intended only for the use of the individual to whom it is addressed and may contain information which is privileged and confidential, the disclosure of which is prohibited by law.
