Hi Paul,

Thanks for your comments regarding our emails, as Karen has already said we are more than happy to receive feedback and to make any useful changes to our project. Having reviewed the situation, we cannot unfortunately produce a weekly/monthly bulletin due to the nature of the requests that come in and their timeliness. Information comes to us from a variety of sources, we make it our business to ensure we are aware of all relevant/useful information for OEEG members and hope in time to be the main supplier of employer engagement information, it takes time to build this reputation.

Therefore in response we will ensure in future that the subject box for the email clearly depicts the contents of the email and therefore will enable you to determine whether the content is relevant. As for the number, I can't reduce this because I can't assess what could be useful for you or our 40 other membership organisations. The e forum email list is simply one list we use to send information to, this is to save us necessary time, our project is very fast pace and is developing all the time because of the newness of the concept.

I sincerely hope this is an adequate response and look forward to seeing you at the next event. If this is not the case please let me know.

Thanks

Hi Karen,

Thanks for taking my email so seriously, but please don't take it as an official complaint.

My frustration comes from the fact that a lot of what you send me has little direct relevance to what our organisation does. The Employer Engagement Project as I understand it is largely targeting private sector employers so that they are more likely to employ people from the EQUAL target groups - with a bit of public sector because in Brighton & Hove they are the largest employer.

The WTP EQUAL project is informing organisations who are working with those target groups about all of the EQUAL programme, as well as recruiting and training VCS based Learning Champions. You may be able to see that there is a slight mismatch in terms of some of the information I have been receiving, and its direct relevance.

However, apart from the lists of jobs and the information which I assume comes from the EE Forum (what I meant by random), I am happy to receive the information. But I would like to receive it in a more systematic way if possible. I understand that if someone has a quick query, then waiting a week to put it in a bulletin might not be the way to go. But a large proportion of this information could be sent in one email. Maureen Pasmore has been using this method. The Community and Voluntary Sector Forum also emails its members in this way. Or if some people are happy with this number of emails, maybe I could be an associate member who receives a summary of key information on a weekly / fortnightly basis?

I receive around 40-50 non-junk emails per day, and many of them from the same people. Two of the people I receive large numbers of emails from are Claire, and Oliver Maxwell. BCP is not a large organisation, it must be possible to co-ordinate information giving to some extent.

I apologise if my previous email sounded rude.

Thanks for your time and have a lovely weekend
Paul

Hi Paul,

Oh dear - I apologise again for having to change the date of the OEEG but I assure you that this was completely out of our control. I am aware that we do need to send out quite a few e-mails in order to keep our OEEG members up to date, however, you can state which circulation lists you would like to be on.

Currently, you are on the list for all OEEG meetings (including minutes), training sessions (including feedback and updates), Employer Engagement events and the EE forum, where we forward information or requests from other OEEG members and organisations involved in employer engagement that may be of interest to the group.

With regard to random e-mails, please can you give me some examples so that I can try to ensure that you do not receive these in future.

We pride ourselves on our high standard of customer service and we take any concerns or complaints seriously. We have a procedure in place to regularly review and update our systems and appreciate any feedback that enables us to improve our delivery.

I will speak with Claire on her return regarding this matter and you can be assured that we will review our systems in the next five working days, based on the issues that you have raised. I will copy Charlie Allsebrook in on this e-mail in order for her to be made aware of your concerns regarding BCP.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks,

Karen

Hi Karen,

I just composed the email below. Whilst with hind sight it seems rude, I thought you should see it. I will attempt to be there next week, but I am supposed to be at another meeting. I had already spoken to Claire and said that I would attend today, and therefore didn't think that I had to reconfirm attendance even if it was for the wrong day. Have a lovely weekend.

Cheers

Paul

Hi Claire,

Next time you ring me up to hassle me to attend a meeting, please could you check that you are giving me the correct date. As much as I enjoyed driving round the suburbs, I have a list of things to do so large that it would leave most people in mental health territory.

Also, If you decide that actually I'm a prat for not reading my emails, could I suggest that you send less of them - I've got Claire blindness. If you have to send out all of this information, could you send it out in one bulletin weekly with a contents list. You might want to coordinate this with other colleagues at BCP, as they too are sending out a random selection of information, and which in some cases appears to be very untargeted.

Sorry to moan

Paul
