I certainly had no intention of undermining anyone or causing any problems. As far as I am aware I thought I had made it very clear in the last OEEG meeting (this is also in the minutes - please find attached), when both Jan Willett and Russell Bignold (EOPPS - another Workstep Provider) raised concerns about using the new health & safety checklist for work placements because of their existing Workstep paperwork and not wishing to compromise the terms of their Worksteo contract, that I would contact the Worksteps Contract Manager direct. If it had simply been a case of Jan Willet making a comment then I would of course have come directly to you as her Manager. I made no mention of you to Don Smith because I was discussing the overall Workstep contract, I explained what my role was and what the work of the OEEG was trying to achieve and the concerns of the Workstep OEEG members regarding this paperwork. It was a useful conversation in any event because I would ideally like to see organisations such as the Jobcentre and the LSC adopt the paperwork because it is a good piece of work and I wish to share our best practice where ever possible. I hope this explanation clears up the confusion and eliviates your annoyance with me. If you wish to take this further then please contact me. He phoned with specific reference to our Jobcentre Plus contract as you had told him that I was concerned that we were not allowed to use the OEEG designed form as part of our work with JCP. He wanted to confirm that we could. I explained to Don that we were not concerned about using any form or considering using an alternative to the form that we currently use which has been developed over several years with employers, clients and our service needs in mind. I am very surprised, and not a little annoyed , that you have spoken about elements of my service to an organisation that we contract very successfully with and raised concerns that have not come from within my service. I am very concerned that you did this without reference to either myself or David Cooper who has the day to day responsibility of delivering that contract. I am not sure by whose authority you feel you had the right to do so. I have spoken to both Jan Willett and Wendy Akehurst who have confirmed that you had not contacted them about it. It may be that there is a very good reason why you took this action and I would like to hear this before I consider whether I need to take this matter further.
