This course is risk assessment based and follows the Induction syllabus in the National Minimum Standards.
This would typically include
Basic anatomy, back care and advice about working postures
Basic inanimate load handling techniques
Overview of the legal issues with roles and responsibilities
Risk assessment explanations, practical examples and problem solving.
Hands on techniques e.g. sit to stand techniques
• Assisted walking
• All bed mobility with and without handling aids
• The use of both hoists and slings
• (mobile hoists and track systems)
• Assistance to and from the floor and managing the
• falling client
• Special circumstances as required
