C-Matic On Ice

11th April 2011
The inaugural event for the C-Matic Challenge Shield was played out on England’s only dedicated curling rink on Monday the 11th April. Twenty Four hardy souls took to the ice after suitable refreshments were taken on board and after only a few short minutes of tuition took to the sport like ducks to water. (well frozen water actually and we have all seen them trying to land on that!)

Six teams battled it out over five rounds of matches with the “All Stars” team winning all their matches and deservedly awarded with the trophy. So congratulations to Geoff, Sally, Carmen and Jenny on their performance and many thanks to Fenton’s Curling Rink for use of their facilities. A great evening was had by all.

Final Circuit monitoring solutions expand

10th January 2011
With the success of the SPN (Single Phase Node) for new and retrofit pan-assembly applications, the new PoE and other models are progressing well in design.
David Sawyer – Sales Director commented: "When the SPN was originally conceived it was always intended to be a self
contained power monitoring node that is distributed throughout locations and installations where final circuit monitoring is required. Many users are unaware that when supplied in the strip version for pan–assembly mounting, each node is a dedicated power monitoring meter and is how we achieve the accuracy of energy measurements. The node provides the inherent flexibility of the SPN solution. These new developments allow further use of SPN's at rack and bus-bar tap-off level combined with easier retrofit options".

This further upgrade sees additions of the ION 7650 advanced power quality monitor utilising the non intrusive current input variant for retrofit to existing 33kV & 132kV systems.
The order also includes licence upgrades for their central ION Enterprise monitoring systems. This represents further ongoing commitment from this utility network operator which commenced in the mid 1990 and continues today.

L-Con solution ordered

11th August 2010
A further C-Matic L-Con solution has been ordered by a finance house in Broadgate - City of London. Hot on the heels of the L-Con contract secured in June 2010, this system will use a similar L-Con solution with two dual redundant Rockwell PLC outstations and HMI's. The site already has an ION Enterprise power monitoring system installed and this contract further confirms the users recognition of C-Matic Systems as a key supplier of monitoring and control solutions for critical buildings.

Riverbank House contract secured

Expanding premises

5th June 2010
With the additional space secured at our second facility, The Forge, we have now moved our Schneider ION PowerLogic stores to its new home without any disruption to supplying our customers.
Commenting Ian Atkin – Production & Operations Manager said: "The extra area leased at The Forge in February has given us the required space to re-organise our departments, moving the stores from Warren Court to The Forge was the start of this phase in our continued expansion. The large stock levels we hold of Schneider ION products continue to allow us to provide the response to the market we believe it deserves".

Heathrow datacentre expands

22nd May 2010
Further work has been contracted for a finance datacentre at Heathrow. As this site continues to expand, C-Matic Systems have been contracted to further extend the existing ION Enterprise monitoring system. This installation began with the previous owners in 2001, and has grown to an advanced system with over 500 ION monitoring devices.

Further SPN development

10th March 2010
Further in house development has seen the introduction of the first 63 Amps rated C-Matic Single Phase Node - SPN.
Technical Director John Crudgington announced "We are pleased to move our unique monitoring systems forward in response to considerable uptake and favourable customer reviews. The original SPN was launched with a rating up to 40 Amps, I suppose it was only a matter of time for data centre loads to climb above the previous maximum of 32 Amps as KW loading of server cabinets continued their increase with the adoption of blade architecture and denser packing densities".
The increase to 63 Amps is achieved with no reduction of the excellent energy measurement accuracy of better than 1%.

Company expansion

24th February 2010
Further workshop space has been added to our second facility, The Forge. The remainder of this building has now been leased and this brings our total facility space split across our two sites in Crowborough to 11,000 sq ft.

It was not long before this space was fully utilised and we re-leased the The Forge, adding a further 2500 sq ft in 2008. This latest addition will allow room for re-organisation and further expansion of our operation.

Our position in the market

16th July 2009
Recent press releases from our competitors may have lead to confusion amongst our customers. These relate to the Schneider PowerLogic ION range of products and software. Today sales director David Sawyer is pleased to put the record straight. "Our involvement with the ION product range began in 1989 when we became the exclusive agent for Power Measurement of Canada the originator of ION products and software.

In 2005 Power Measurement was purchased by Schneider Electric and C-Matic Systems became a high end integrator and distributor for the expanded range including ION and PM products. This relationship continues and flourishes today, with C-Matic Systems continuing to be the number one stop for ION products and support.
In changing markets and large corporations, it always happens that products become available through more than one channel. Users may see a short term advantage on price as supply is wrapped up with other products and systems - however, as all good engineers know, the real cost in the solution is not just the raw price but how the final solution is delivered - with the C-Matic Systems service customers are never left wanting with their system"

Supply landmark reached

23rd May 2009
On the 14th May 2009 we reached the supply landmark for the 200th copy of ION Enterprise software to be supplied by C-Matic Systems.
