About Us

C-Matic Systems was incorporated in 1975 to design and supply advanced electronic instrumentation systems for production line test equipment. In the early days the business incorporated video and audio synchronisation equipment to the service.
In the mid 80's we became suppliers of industrial and communication system products for end users and OEMs.

In 1989 we entered into the Power Metering and Monitoring market with the appointment as UK and Irish agents for a Canadian company Power Measurement Ltd. During the early 90's our offer from Power Measurement Ltd became established in the market and also at this time the business laid down roots in Crowborough.
This side of the business became known as the "Power" business unit. At the same time the "Design" or non-power side of the business continued to grow.

During the mid 90's the "Power" side of the business achieved significant growth with many large projects being secured.
Today the "Power" side of the business represents 90% of a turnover of £5M+.

In 2005 following the acquisition of PML by Schneider Electric, this progressed onto a relationship with Schneider Electric.
Today we are a UK system integrator and high end distributor for the Schneider ION and PM range of metering instruments and ION Enterprise central monitoring software.

Our business model is highly customer focused and maintains our philosophy to provide fully working solutions, providing maximum benefit at reasonable cost.

Commercial Property – Monitoring and Control

A PowerLogic® ION Enterprise system connected to a network of 100 ION Meters, of type 7650, 7550, 7350, 6200. Main feeds and transformers have 7650 and 7550 meters installed. The tenant’s tap-offs have 7350-OFGEM meters installed to provide tariff approved energy data for tenant billing. Energy data a ported into the Part L2 for the rest of the building is satisfied with 6200 meters.

The tenant’s tap-off 7350 meters also provides power quality compliance monitoring and tap-off control features. An Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLC provides control of the tenant’s tap-offs in parallel with the main generator’s PLC system provided by the generator supplier, also an Allen Bradley PLC.

Financial HQ – Monitoring and Control

A PowerLogic® ION Enterprise system connected to a network of 200 ION Meters of type ION 7650, 7550, 7330 combined with the C-Matic L-CON control system. A system provided as several phases during the refurbishment of a live building, critical requirements for commissioning and testing.

The L-CON control system consisted of 6 sets of dual redundant industrial PCs controlling 150 feeders on the main LV switchboards. On mains failure and generator startup the L-CON system was responsible for controller re-instatement of the feeds in 17 stages.

Utilises dynamic load profile learning and feeder protection algorithms to prevent main feeder overload, final stage of project was to incorporate generator synchronisation to grid supply for seamless transfer to and from generators. L-CON full LV system load control simulator developed by C-Matic to allow full testing of all scenarios without use of the actual building, today this is used as a back to back training tool for the building’s maintenance team.

Grid – Power Quality Monitoring System

Utilises the ION 7650 power meter with a completely new framework of ION modules developed for client’s exact PQ requirements. The PowerLogic® ION Enterprise head-end combined with Database Desktop PQ reporting app, provides high level PQ compliance monitoring and reporting to standards such as IEC 61000-4-30.

London Datacentre

A network of ION 7650, ION 7550, ION 7350 and ION 6200 power meters installed at key locations within this datacentre. 28 PDU's fitted with ION 7550 and ION 6200 power meters and SPN's on each of the 96 outgoing ways. SPN data read and collated by the 7550 instruments. A PowerLogic® ION Enterprise head-end with a total of 2700 points monitored for electrical energy and performance.

University

A network of 250 meters installed around the university throughout the City. A user that started with the original PML 3720 meter and then progressed to the ION 7550 and ION 6200 meters. The latest Schneider NSX intelligent breaker has recently been utilised on this site and are now integrated into their PowerLogic® ION Enterprise system.





Energy Screens

Utilising an existing PowerLogic® ION Enterprise system, ION and pulse meter installations we can generate automated Energy Screens of your energy usage that can be easily interpreted. Information on electricity, water, gas and carbon usage can be shown on both PC monitors and large format plasma / LCD displays.
